3-Ingredient Dunkaroo Dip (Funfetti Cake Batter Dip)

No other dip can inspire as much conversation as this Dunkaroo Dip. Trust us!

Millenials and Gen X will fondly remember the retro Dunkaroo snack packs that came with animal crackers and a sweet dip. If those blue containers were in your packed lunch, you had scored! They weren’t the healthiest snacks parents could have sent, but they sure did become core memories.

Today, Dunkaroos are no longer available, but the childhood nostalgia is strong. Serve up this Funfetti cake batter dip at a gathering and wait until all of the adults start reminiscing!

Of course, today’s kids and teens will love this sweet dessert dip, too. It’s colorful, it’s delicious and it’s perfect for birthday celebrations! Plus, it’s guaranteed to be popular on the dessert table!

Homemade Dunkaroo Dip (Funfetti Cake Batter Dip)

Yields: 10 large servings (This will make enough dip for a party! You may want to cut the recipe in half if you are making for just a few.)
Prep Time: 10 min

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz.) box of Funfetti cake mix*
  • 8 oz. Cool Whip
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt (regular yogurt is preferable, but Greek yogurt will work)
  • Rainbow sprinkles for topping (optional)

Directions

To a large mixing bowl, add the cake mix powder*, Cool Whip, yogurt, and rainbow sprinkles, if desired.

Mix well to combine. Refrigerate for at least an hour to chill and let the flavors blend together.

Put in a serving bowl and top with additional sprinkles if you would like.

Serve with sweet treats such as:

  • Animal Crackers
  • Teddy Grahams
  • Graham Crackers
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Vanilla Wafers

*Okay, there is some concern about raw flour possibly containing harmful bacteria, and cake mix is considered raw flour. If you are worried about the potential harmful bacteria, you can heat treat the cake mix before adding to the bowl. Here’s how you do it: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a shallow baking sheet with parchment paper, and sprinkle the cake mix evenly over it in a layer. Bake for 5 minutes. Allow to cool before using.

To Store: Place in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

This dip CAN be frozen! I suggest not adding any sprinkles to the dip if you will be freezing it because the colors can run when the dip defrosts. Freeze the dip for up to 3 months. When ready to serve, allow to thaw and serve cold or at room temperature.
