Alabama Fire Crackers

Yields: About 140 crackers
Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Rest Time: 8 Hours

Ingredients

  • 1 Box Saltines (16 ounces)
  • 1 ½ Cups Canola Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Crushed Red Pepper
  • 2 Ranch Seasoning Packets (1 ounce each)
  • 2 Teaspoons Granulated Garlic
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Pepper

Directions

Place the seasonings and oil in a gallon size zip-top plastic baggie.

Close the bag and thoroughly mix the ingredients in the bag by massaging it by hand.

Open the bag and add the crackers.

Seal and gently rotate the bag so that all the crackers get coated.

Leave the bag to rest overnight, flipping the bag once after an hour, when possible. (Don’t get up in the middle of the night to do it! But if you are awake while the crackers are soaking, you can flip them.)

After soaking for at least 8 hours, the crackers are ready to serve. Remove them from the bag and transfer to another container or bag.

To Store: Store these crackers in a sealed container or baggie for up to 1 week. We do not suggest putting in the refrigerator or in the freezer.
